Karawara Family and Community Centre

The Karawara Family and Community Centre is situated at 61 Lowan Loop, sharing the location with the Karawara Early Education and Care service.

In December 2012, after many months of renovations and refurbishments generously funded by Lotterywest, Gowrie WA officially opened the Karawara Family and Community Centre. The fully air-conditioned and heated facility, is equipped with a kitchen, a training and activity room, comfortable seating areas and a castle to play in.  All of these features overlook the beautiful community garden, adorned with large shady trees, a sandpit, tables and seating, and a nature garden to explore.

Operating from the Karawara Family and Community Centre is a Child Health Nurse, a Clinical Nurse Specialist and a Lactation Consultant. These Department for Health employees provide support groups, information on perinatal health care, lactation consultancy and are readily available to assist parents with the enjoyable and challenging role of raising children.

Playgroups, parent/church/children groups, forums, workshops, meetings, group activities and presentations are often operating from the family and community centre. Space and offices are available for casual, short and long term hire – all receive the beautiful community garden, the seating area, and tea and coffee making facilities as part of the hire rates.
