Karawara Early Childhood Education and Care Centre
The Gowrie WA Karawara early childhood education and care centre shares its location with our wonderful family and community centre, at 61 Lowan Loop.
The early education and care centre caters for 72 children from birth to school age. Dedicated and passionate educators care for the children across four indoor environments within the centre. The nurturing indoor environments, and nature play based outdoor environments, are designed to foster the children’s development and encourage a strong sense of belonging. Throughout the day, children take part in inclusive experiences and activities that develop and promote independence, learning, self-esteem, respectful relationships and that recognise each child’s individual interests, culture and backgrounds.
The outdoor environments provide children with the opportunity to play, investigate, build and explore. The environment supports the development of mathematical and science skills, social interactions, emotional regulation and physical abilities and skills, while providing a learning platform for sustainability, recycling and caring for nature.
Indoor environments are welcoming, inclusive, relaxed and homelike. Children are encouraged to use the environment and equipment to make choices, build relationships and foster skills and abilities. Educators support the children’s development by providing experiences based on children’s interests and needs, initiated by the child.
Nutritionally balanced meals are lovingly prepared on the premises. Allergies and nutritional requirements are catered for where possible, in consultation with the family and Gowrie WA educators. Where appropriate, children are encouraged to practice and foster self-help skills by assisting with table setting and serving their own meals. Meal times are relaxed and provide wonderful opportunities to develop social skills and relationships.
